Demon in the Wood Graphic Novel by Leigh Bardugo

3.0

3.5 stars

Demon in the Wood is a return to the Grisha world, a world beloved by many readers. While I've found myself somewhat enjoying Grisha books, I've never fully loved them (that said, I barely remember Shadow and Bone and still need to read Book 3)

As a graphic novel, it tells the story of the Darkling, before he was the Darkling and when he was just a boy with lots of powers, moving from place to place for protection with his Mother. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous, however, the prequel is just too short, unfortunately. The graphic novel had a very little amount of words, while I get that it's a graphic novel, still there could have been more words. I felt parts of the prequel were definitely very rushed due to its page length.

Overall, still a captivating read with absolutely gorgeous illustrations that left me really wanting more from this book due to it's short page length.
