Abby is INCREDIBLY annoying and obtuse. Her husband Sam is a terrible liar and I found myself super hoping she would evolve , and grow some sort of “fight” in her, but she didn’t. *heavily sighs* Then Sam is literally just believing every lie that’s being told about Abby? Why wouldn’t he immediately deny harshly rumors about heir spouse? He never stood up for her! And after he
cheats
which isn’t a big surprise whatsoever, Abby immediately decides she’s still weirdly obsessed with him. But he was HARDLY emotionally available!

Additionally, the story is a bit predictable. Some twists like
Gertie - Abby’s old assistant- is actually Monica’s mom, who was helping her steal Sam, from Abby. A weird mother-daughter duo trying to sabotage someone who NEVER did anything wrong to them personally!
So the “why” was lame, and lacked creativity. Plus the writing felt very basic and at times the dialogue dragged.

All in all, this book was meh at best, and I didn’t like the predictably. I’d be curious to know if it’s her writing theme throughout all her works. And if it is, I don’t think I’ll be reading much more of Freida McFadden.
