At 155 pages I have to abandon this book. It’s not that it’s bad per se, it’s just not for me. I found the writing clunky (especially disappointing as Patrick Lane is a poet), and it takes long roundabout flashback-filled routes in almost every scene. There was nothing about the story that I cared to read the conclusion of, so I’m going to pull a rare-for-me move and DNF this one.
