Having the FMC’s name be Agatha is fun and a nod to Agatha Christie, one of the queens of “who-done-it” books.

There is an anxiety in the FMC's voice that makes me sad, but her constant “woe is me” for things like having a husband that supports her quitting her job to become a fulltime writer, and making enough money on her first book to be able to quit her job rubs me the wrong way. The husband doesn’t always seem to listen, but I’m not sure if she actually communicates to him what she wants.

There are great parts and parts that make me want to rip hair out of my head. The text was drier than an Albertan winter and the only emotion in the novel was some semblance of anxiety.

The title and cover drew me in, and the blurb made me want to jump right into the book. The text made me want to jump out because it was dry and nothing made me want to be emotionally invested.

I wanted to love it, I enjoy a good mystery, but I have to want to find out the mystery.

This one wasn’t for me.
