description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
So this book started out quite good. The writing was great. The pace was good. The characters and plot engaging. That said, around 40% it started to fizzle out and I struggled to finish it. This was a LONG book. Too long in my opinion. The author really needed to tighten this story up A LOT. I mean the heroine (Reina) isn't even in the book from 40%-65%. And as much as Soloman King's character intrigued me, reading about his rise to baddie fame just wasn't that interesting. It started to pick up again around 70% but the author had pretty much lost me at that point.

~HERO~
Soloman...I liked him. I cringed a little every time the author wrote he was wearing white pants, and a diamond-crusted watch. All I kept picturing was a Jersey Shore wannabe, but OK I am not the fashion police...so whatevs (lol). He was sexy. He was tatted up. He was crazy. He was all about Reina right from the start and I really liked his friendship with Nix.

~HEROINE~
Reina...she was OK. I think her character development was hindered by the fact we never get anything from her POV (until right at the end). I just never connected with her. I didn't understand her behavior at all. We get very little background info about her family. The story of why she ghosted Soloman for seven years was a little lame. The whole Harley Quinn wannabe behavior she had when she shows up again felt forced.

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
This book was pretty light on secondary characters. Nix really is the only one worth mentioning. I liked him a lot. I loved his friendship with Soloman. I can see him getting his own book at some point.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Super Low. There is basically no explicit sex in this one. A couple VERY mild sex scenes and a lot of implied sex. It certainly could have done with some spicing up.

~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. I didn't find this one angsty at all. There is just a bit of OM drama and OW drama. One implied sex scene with an OW and the hero. Neither were celibate the seven years apart.

~IN THE END~
It was OK. It honestly had the bones to be a GREAT book, but it was simply too long and needed to be tightened up and fleshed out more plot wise AND character wise. It also would have benefited from having the heroines POV here and there. And of course, a little more steam would have been nice ;D At this point, I am on the fence about whether I am interested enough to continue on with the next book. Time will tell I guess.description
