Spider-Woman, Volume 1: Spider-Verse
by Dennis Hopeless
If you're not also reading the other Spider-Man and Spider-Man spin-off titles that were published along side the issues that make up this volume, you're going to be so confused about what is going on. Most of the main storyline that kicks off the events in this book are told elsewhere.
Now the first time I read these issues, I read the event as each issue was released and I had no problem keeping up with the story but just reading this volume outside of the other books, you find that it doesn't make much narrative sense. There is so much story that happens between each issue slash chapter of this, that without reading those books, this story feels like its full of holes.
I'm not sure publishing this volume outside of the other Spider books really works. Marvel should have just published all of the Spider-Verse comics in order of publication and released the Spider-Verse trade paperbacks in multiple volumes. It would be better to just pick up the giant, hardcover Spider-Verse book that has the entire storyline in it.
It is nice to see the first appearance of Spider-Woman from 1977 but it doesn't help the Spider-Woman's section of the Spider-Verse storyline at all.
