First up, the combination of cover and blurb enticed me... it sounded such a unique book that it intrigued me.

It screamed Urban Fantasy to me, which is a sub-genre that I love to read!

I started reading this book and was surprised that I devoured it in a day!

Initially, I felt that the book was dark and started slowly. I also felt confused by Adam's character - why was he like this? Was he a Sociopath? How dangerous is he when he refers to other humans as 'animals'?

Then, in walks Carly and all of a sudden the book begins to fewl lighter and picks up speed and we see Adam developing as a character and the plot developing too!

This is an extremely clever book with an amazing and fresh take on essentially mutants.

It gripped me from the moment that the story kicked in, and we saw Adam's past unravel while we learn about the Descendants and also Carly's ancestors.

Calix has a very different way of writing that only adds to the excitement of this book, and I enjoyed every moment reading it - it was a rollercoaster ride of surprises!

I can't wait to start reading Calix's sequel to learn what other secrets need to be revealed before the Descendant's can destroy those who aim to seek and destroy them.

It is a fantastic book and very, very enjoyable read.
