Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

5.0

I'm not sure who I love more: Princess Alossa or Riden, but my bet is on Alossa.

What it's about? Princess Alossa is the daughter of the pirate king (obviously), and he set her on a mission to retrieve the last two pieces of the torn map showing the way to the Isla de Canta where treasures beyond their wildest dreams lie. First, she must board the ship called Nightfarer for the first piece of the map, and with burley pirates it's easy to discredit Alossa's skills which is exactly what she is counting on.

What I thought? I loved this book! The way Alossa manipulates those aboard the Nightfarer couldn't have been more priceless. I love her wit, sarcasm, and spunk. She relishes watching people discover just how much they misjudged her, and it was perfect. My first negative thought was that the love interest was too insta-lovy, but with further reading and reflection, it became clear that the progression was necessary and well played.

In short: solid debut and Alossa's one-liners are best.
