Caesar: Life of a Colossus by Adrian Goldsworthy

A pretty comprehensive take on Caesars life, not too weighed down by academic issues but does present some of the controversies in the study of his life if only briefly, Goldsworthy seems a little pro Ceasar at times but I think it's more he's attempt to help the reader understand the culture that Ceasar grew up in and why certain behaviour was natural to him, it definitely helped me understand a character I usually had a general dislike towards and while I maintain certain elements of that dislike the book did redeem some things.
