Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

As the child of an immigrant, I related to Izumi. Knowing your ethnicity but not really having the full experience of being on the land and immersed in the culture.

I really enjoyed how I got to experience Tokyo through her eyes (even though I have no idea what it feels like to be royalty 😂). I felt her excitement and how at home she felt. I even related to the negative things like her cousins bullying her because she doesn’t speak Japanese.

I love how her dad welcomed her with open arms and was so quick to invite her home and solidify her place in the royal family. He didn’t question it at all. That was a breath of fresh air.

OF COURSE I love Aiko!!!! I love how he give Izumi the space to be herself ❤️

Yoshi betraying her is something I didn’t see coming, I really liked him! At first I thought he was shady but he grew on me. I guess I should’ve went with my gut on that one. How you sell out your own family for money you can easily get? Smh.
