Daddy Issues
by Kate Goldbeck
“Look, some women are into six-pack abs or Scottish accents. For me? It’s the one-handed backup.”
Kate Goldbeck’s storytelling is *chef’s kiss*
What I liked:
These characters are so visceral and real. They are flawed and a little bit broken. There is great anxiety and depression rep.
Sam really has to stumble a bit while she is finding herself again. Her story resonated with me hard. Having to/deciding to move on from how you thought your life was going to go and your career would be. Sometimes we have to pivot, and it turns out better than we expected.
I am not a kids person, and I related to that part of Sam so much. Kira was a cute kid in the story, but I likely would’ve reacted to her similarly to Sam in the beginning.
What didn’t work for me:
Nothing major
