I adored this book until Betty reached middle age, then it felt like whizzed through her life too quickly and superficially. It also felt a bit like the best of/worst of social justice issues for each time were thrown in for good measure but not explored in depth from Betty’s perspective. The storytelling got a bit lost.
However, still a gorgeous book and even though she’s fictional, I’d still love to have a beer with Betty any day.
