The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

This one was pretty hard to get through, but not because it was bad. More because of how dark it is.
Atwood pulls no punches. It is explicit in the violence. So this is absolutely not for everyone, but it really made its point.
I will say, something that stood out about this book was the fact that our main character in this oppressive society REMEMBERS her life before. That was really fascinating for me because a lot of protagonists in dystopian novels grew up in the system and don’t remember before. It added a new element to the story that I liked.
I haven’t seen the show, but I will check it out after this. And pick up the sequel.
