Damien Carter works for the firm where a client is never too guilty to defend. He's arrogant, and cocky and one day on the way to work gets in a fender bender with the sexiest woman he has ever seen. She flees the scene but he sees her when she interviews for a job at the firm that same day. She is hired by his partner at the firm Andrew Hamilton who also has her work with Damien Carter. He can't fight his physical attraction to her and the two start sleeping together but soon she wants more. Something that he can't give her. Both must come clean about their sordid complicated pasts and relationship hang ups to make things work.

I liked this book and the character Damien a lot. I liked Elizabeth a lot at the beginning of the book and I liked that she challenged Carter but found her history confusing up until the very end of the book when everything was explained about both her past and Damien's. I was heartbroken for her when Damien told her he didn't need her. I'm glad she blocked him out and even went as far as dating another person before forgiving him. This isn't my favorite Whitney G book though I did enjoy it. I didn't read it as fast as her other books.
