So ChatGPT recommended this book to me after I told it two series I enjoyed. I am so glad it did! This was a truly lovely story.
I loved the way it went back and forth between the author and her story. I love the connections. I love the romance in real life that was soft and sweet and secondary and I loved the romance in her story that was an echo of it, or maybe the catalyst of the echo.
I love Scotland so I enjoyed the setting. I love that it felt original, it didn't feel like the same old story told a different way. I love the historical focus, and a portion of jacobite history that gets overlooked for those not super into history, especially an American.
It had sweet and cozy aspects, wholesome romance, intrigue. It was a fun and masterful combination.
