 I think this is my favorite book of Catriona Ward's. I am not at all surprised by this book winning the Shirley Jackson award for Best Novel. Ward reminds me a lotttt of Shirley Jackson. There is always a lot of creepiness, and bizarre things happening in her books. She has a way of writing things that are really haunting and beautiful, but also bizarre and just plain weird. This story has so many levels to it, and I really loved every minute of it. Dark, gothic, murdery-cult book, whats not to love?
