Close to a 3.5.
This was good - I like the world of the novella, and would definitely read more in this setting. But the plot here wasn't particularly compelling. There was a mystery to be solved, but it didn't ever feel important or urgent until the last 30 minutes of the four hour audiobook. But the setting was fun and I like the characterizations of Mossa and Pleiti.While I agree that the unilateral decision-making of the villain is bad, I didn't think the actual idea was that bad. I was more against approach of the Department of Classics tbh.
Multiple times Pleiti had some dialogue lines followed by "I expostulated", which brought me out of the story each time because it's seemed like such odd phrasing to me.
