The Spirit Glass by Roshani Chokshi

4.5

Okay, not gonna lie, my favorite part is Corazón's gecko buddy who thinks he's a giant crocodile. The pure adorable bloodthirstiness is amazing. I am so excited that Roshani Chokshi had the opportunity to share mythology from her Filipino side with Riordan Presents. If you liked Aru Shah you'll also love this standalone adventure. It does deal with some heavier topics, since Corazón is trying to come to terms with her parents' death. Her powers have to do with spirits so there's a long grief process in accepting that loss as permanent. But even with these topics, that lighter Riordan-esque vibe still runs beneath it.
