Awakened Magic by Jen L. Grey

medium-paced

2.0

I found the Wolf Born Trilogy through Kindle Unlimited. The premise sounded like other paranormal romance books that I’ve read before and enjoyed. A wolf-shifter girl who meets her mate, but he’s human. It kind of swerved quickly off that path, however. I’m judging the trilogy as a whole because I think they have similar pros/cons.
            Pros:
·      Quick, easy read
·      Enjoyable side characters- The group of friends that develop is a fun little bunch that joins together probably a little too quickly, but it’s the best part of the book in my opinion.
Cons:
·      Main character- I can’t even remember the girls name because it was said so rarely, but honestly, I just didn’t care. I thought of her as pink haired girl because that was mentioned more than her name. Also, her personality shift from meek girl to alpha of a pack made little to no sense at all.
·      Escalation- The jump in the story from book one throughout the rest of the trilogy also was a bit confusing. I liked the college mate aspects, but the insta love then the war against her father just wasn’t interesting.
·      Romance- As in there was zero romance involved here. They hated each other but were attracted to each other. Then all of a sudden, they were in love, the end.

I don’t know that I can totally bash these books because I did finish all three books, however I’m giving the trilogy 2.5/5 stars because the writing wasn’t great and the romance, which is what drew me to this story, was the worst part about it.
