Christmas on Mill Street by Joseph Walker
4.0
Somewhere between Ralphie's 1940's Christmas Story and Greg Heffley's 2007 diary (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)is Samuel Adams in 1963 Bountiful, Utah. A gentle Christmas story of secret Christmas wishes,nine-year-old Samuel has just moved to Utah and experiences snow for the first time, the uncertainty of Santa, and the desire to fit in with the pack of neighborhood boys. Being the first to sled down Mill Street seems to be the ticket to fitting in - never mind that it's death-defyingly steep, Sam doesn't have a sled, and Oh, yeah, Sam hasn't sled before either. Along the way Sam learns a little about physics and a little about community. Nice, sweet read before Christmas!
