Trick Shot was one my favourite reads of 2023. So, it was a no-brainer for me to read Puck Shy as soon as it came out. And I wasn’t disappointed!

This is a story of Lucas, Leo’s twin brother, and Stevie, Riley’s little sister. Leo, Riley–together with Jace– are Trick Shot three main characters.

Lucas and Stevie meet each other at a Valentine’s Day party in a rather peculiar context 🌶️ and from there, the charm between Cherry and her MVP begins.

Like Trick Shot, I love Puck Shy! The chemistry between Lucas and Stevie is undeniable. Their crush is obvious. I really enjoyed the time Lucas took to prove to Stevie that he wanted them to get to know each other, respecting her wishes in doing so.

I also liked the fact as with most of Kayla Grosse’s books, the FMC is once again a plus-size woman. In fact, there was a passage in the book that I picked up as it really spokes to me in that regard:
“Hey, I’m trying to be real here. But when you’re a plus-size girl trying to find any sort of decently priced, cute clothes that don’t look like kaftans or something your grandma would wear to a rummy game at her friend Margie’s house, options are limited.”
It’s so freaking true! If we want to buy nice outfits at a decent price on some retailers' websites, we feel guilty because we’re contributing to an industry that’s humanly and environmentally devasting. Anyway, that’s a different debate.

To sum it all up: I highly recommend reading Puck Shy–and Kayla Grosse’s books in general.
