This book was a chore to read. From the start, the writing style was awful. The amount of “l” statements read like a tween journal. The would building and story line were lovely (hence any stars at all) but I could not get over the writing. To make it worse, Jude was exhausting. I almost DNF but kept going hoping I might eventually like her. I didn’t. I was also hoping for an enemies-to-lovers romance, but it was just a lot of abuse, one sided bulling, and a kiss that didn’t feel authentic to the story. None of the forced “romance” felt authentic to the story.
If I decide to continue with the series, it’s due to the bonus story at the end (a visit to impossible lands) where the prose improves significantly. But I likely won’t.
