The Green Mile, Part 4: The Bad Death of Eduard Delacroix
by Stephen King
Stephen King unleashes his skill as a horror writer in this part. Delacroix's death is gruesome, and Percy is one of the most loathsome characters for doing that out of curiosity and vengeance. The title is a good warning, because the death is very visceral in description. The horror of having to kill another human for justice is palpable. It's a bit heart breaking, watching Percy tear away what little shred of hope Del had with the delusion of the Mouseville. A part of me can't help but wonder if that is a tongue-in-cheek reference to Disney World, which is also in Florida.
