SpoilerThe main character's willingness to do anything and believe anyone because she wanted friends so badly was infuriating. I guess I have been there done that at her age and into my 20s. Now, in my late 40s, almost 50 years old, seeing the gullibility, made me want to smack some sense into her! Wanted to tell her to grow a backbone! She had wonderful people around her already! But, maybe that'sthe more mature side of me speaking. The side of me that knows, some people won't change. Even as recent as last year and earlier this year I was too nice for my own good with one person but that last time, I immediately regretted it & within a few weeks, indirectly said for them to keep ignoring me and went back no contact. So, maybe my frustration was wanting to have a fictional character (anyone really) to avoid the things I've seen. As Maya Angelou said: "When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. But, I do plan on going onto book 2 to see if she grows a backbone in this book. This seems like the kind of book that would make a good show but I guess many may think shows like this have been overdone maybe.
