The Outpost by Devney Perry

3.5

If Devney Perry writes it, I’m definitely gonna read it. I got this book in January because it was the author’s book of the month and this did not disappoint. Sabrina and Beau’s story was so different from any other romance book I have read but there were some things I wasn’t a fan of.

But first, the characters; Sabrina was a great female lead, she stood her ground and tried to adjust to the whole situation as best as she could and I think she did a pretty good job but there were times were she was way too stubborn and hotheaded that I wanted to throw my phone across the room.

As for Beau, that man was like a giant tired teddy bear that loved to help and protect others but basically had no life of his own. He was also a bit too stubborn and quick to judge to conclusions at times which resulted in a few miscommunication scenes that had me pulling my hair.

Lastly, the whole mafia thing felt out of place because they let go of the subject and Sabrina a bit too quickly for what I’m used to. It felt rushed just so the author could move along to the next plot line which was what Sabrina was going to do now that she wasn’t in danger.

Overall, it was a cute wholesome book that I definitely recommend if you like forced proximity country MMC books!
