I'm surprised it took me so long to read this book, given how much I've been exposed to the story. Between childhood/adolescent memories surrounding "Muppets Treasure Island", "Treasure Planet", and a stage play based on this book, I was already VERY familiar with the story before reading it. And I'm willing to admit that my five star review could simply be the result of nostalgia. But this is a solid bildungsroman filled with the kinds of adventures that would appeal to a youngster. It's a classic for a reason.
