In Your Hands by Louisa Masters
4.0

Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 3 in the Joy Universe series, and I have only read book one, I've Got This, which is Derek and Trav's story. Dimi and Jason are book 2, Follow My Lead. All four guys play a part here, but you don't NEED to have read the others, I don't think. I didn't really think I was missing anything by not reading book two. Book one was rather good though!

Grant knew when he took the Assistant Director's job that he would have some work to do. He did NOT realise how much. Asking the big bosses for an audit seemed like the best answer, to see how far what he thought went. Having Luke arrive as chief auditor was not on the cards. When his friends click that Luke and Grant have a bit of a history, they make a pool. So it's just a matter of WHEN they get back together, rather than if. That is, until Luke's ex husband turns up.

This was a wonderful read! One thing, which I knew going in, just one thing meant I couldn't QUITE stretch to 5 stars and I will explain in a moment.

It's a nice easy read, with no violence, unless you count what is discovered by the audit and one of Luke's team doing some gossiping. It's not especially explicit. Much like book one, some sexy time on screen and some off. I really enjoyed that.

Grant takes Luke back into his life knowing that he comes with 2 kids in his life and I loved that very quickly Grant was attached to Mila and Jordy, the over-protectiveness coming out of him when he least expected it.

I found this a much lighter read than book one, but then again, no one dies on Grant's watch!

What I knew going in was, this book is written the same as books one and (I assume) two, as in both guys have a say, in the FIRST person AND in PRESENT tense. Yeah. That. And as much as I enjoyed the book, this is the only reason that I can't stretch to 5 stars, and I KNOW I say it often enough, I know I do, but this is my least favourite way for a book to be written and I have dumped books very quickly when I realised they were written this way. I make no apologisies for that, either.

So, a wonderful, warm and fuzzies read, that was (again) just what I needed at the time!

4 stars
