I unfortunately could not finish this book. No matter how much I tried to get into it (and I read half the book) I cannot seem to immerse myself into this story. As other readers have pointed out, the problem is the writing, there is a large info dump in the first few chapters that makes you feel completely unaware of what is what in this world, nothing is explained really well to make you understand the universe that they live in, and the main character is, I feel, simply there along for the ride as much as we are.

She does not do much for the plot, or the advancement of the investigation other than having the 'markings' that the others seem to have before death. This, unfortunately, does not make a main character integral to the plot. She also seems to be winning people over simply by being sad and afraid... idk, this seems pretty lame to me.

The overall story line is very interesting, and the author was quite creative with the world she built. I would have definitely edited this book a bit more for it to reach its full potential.
