I really love this series. It scratches the itch I've had for so long to immerse myself in Victorian-era British England, and it really reckons with how women carved out independent lives for themselves and how progress was so painfully slow. I appreciated how hard Tristan tried to understand what Lucie was scared of and what she needed, and I loved the exploration of how your mission can change over time, or how you approach it can be different. The friendship between Annabelle and Lucie is gorgeously done, and the chemistry between Tristan and Lucie sparkles. This is spicier than Bringing Down the Duke (which I loved), and I appreciated the enemies-to-lovers storyline so much (it's a favorite of mine). I can't wait to finish the rest of this series!!
