Echo Burning (Jack Reacher, #5) by Lee Child

3.0

This book took me quite a while to get into. I'm still not sure after five books, what I think of Jack Reacher as a character. In this book he finds himself in Texas, hitch-hiking on his way to both anywhere and nowhere. He is picked up by a young woman, Carmen, who has an interesting proposition for him. She has been beaten by her husband for years but as he has been in prison for eighteen months she has been safe for that time. However he is due to be released in a few days time and Carmen has been out on the roads searching for the right kind of man that she could pay to kill him. The situation is more complicated than it seems and Reacher has to use his investigative skills to get to the truth.
