Quickly became one of my favorite books with its beautiful prose and unabashed willingness to feign a conventional plot, rather allowing the reader to really get to know Santiago. Many say this is one of Hemingway’s most autobiographical works. This book being my first of his, I cannot attest, though I can say that the passion and experience with which he write practically bleeds onto the pages. Quick read, loved it.
