If you’re not a Sarah J Maas completionist then you can absolutely skip this one and miss nothing at all. It feels more like a fanfiction of “what happens after the war” than an official part of the series. It mostly sets up some of the plot points for the next book which in my opinion isn’t necessary.

The characters are also being set up for the next book. Feyre lost a lot of her sparkle and is well on her way to becoming set dressing. The only characters who have some kind of conflict going on (or even real flaws) are Nesta and Cassian, which really tracks if you’ve read the next book. It also accomplishes something I didn’t think would be possible for me: it made me feel a little bad for Tamlin. Somebody needs to get this guy a therapist.

You’ll enjoy this more if you like cozy books rather than intricate plots.
