The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young
4.0

I am absolutely enamored by this book and the world created in it!

This was one of those books that I picked up and absolutely couldn't put down, and in between periods of reading it, I found myself thinking of the story and the characters. It was beautifully written, and I actually haven't read [b:Sky in the Deep|34726469|Sky in the Deep (Sky in the Deep, #1)|Adrienne Young|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1508350209l/34726469._SY75_.jpg|55907957] yet, but I have a feeling based on writing style alone that I will love it!

I do think it was partially that I was just in the right mood for this kind of book, but I just let it wash over me rather than trying to get too bogged down in the details. Granted this did lead to me getting confused by characters and who was fighting whom, but Tova's journey was so captivating you can't help but be immersed in everything! There were just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat, and the flashbacks were such a nice touch and a great way to break up the battling.

This is one of those books that while I understand why it's a standalone, I wish it wasn't! Absolutely recommend this for anyone looking for a beautiful escape during an afternoon read!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided to me through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book and I'm sorry for the delay in my reading/reviewing; it's been a bit of a year!
