I’m such a fan of Samantha Chase and have read so many of her books. When she first started teasing this new release, and that she was trying something new and different this time, I was all for it! She normally writes series, in third person, and fade to black. This book was to be a standalone, completely unrelated to everything else, first person, and with some spice. I was very much here for the change!
I definitely prefer first person, both character’s point of view, and absolutely having some more open door moments is always good, and it certainly works for this book.
Olivia and Sebastian’s story beginning with a brilliant meet-cute on a plane when she’s having a terrible day - this was the start of a very interesting storyline! I definitely enjoyed their banter, the friendships and the unique, unexpected moments throughout at the cabin of their mutual friends, and the very interesting connection they shared.
While this wasn’t my favourite of Chase’s books (hard to beat the Donovans), I did definitely still enjoy the read (a very solid 4 star), because she’s a great author and storyteller. I definitely recommend picking it up, for new readers and long-time fans alike. Those familiar with her style will like the different way she’s gone with the POV, and new comers will see why the rest of us adore her.
Thank you to the author for the advance copy. This is my honest review.
