The Lucky Escape by Laura Jane Williams

3.0

Annie is living one of the happiest days of her life - her wedding day. She's counting the hours until she says "yes" to her high school sweetheart Alexander and lives happily ever after with her Mr. The One. Until she's left at the altar and all her life seems to crush down.

After weeks of not leaving her house, she finally decides to bring some routine back into her life and the best thing to do is to start her early 5 am mornings with a jog. Until she stumbles into a fitness center where she encounters an old friend.
Small chat here, a protein drink there, conversation after conversation and we follow Annie and Patrick on her honeymoon trip to Australia so that she can reinvent herself, hopefully heal and come back as a better version of herself.

I'll be honest, the first few chapters were rather challenging, but overall this was a cute and light read. I can't say I connected 100% with the characters - because I honestly didn't -, and I'm still a bit torn between giving this book a fair 3.75 or 4 stars, but I did enjoy this book.

Both Annie and Patrick have gone through things that no human being imagines going through, and watching them bouncing back and be able to move forward, to enjoy the life is somewhat inspiring.

Maybe this one won't make it to my 2022 fav shelf, but I'm very excited to read other Laura Jane Williams' books!
