The second book was the best of the three. I didn't care for the chapters alternating betwen Tobias and Tris, though given the ending of the story if it had all been told from Tris' point of view it would have ended rather abruptly. I know there has been quite a bit of discussion about how the trilogy ends. But other than just making sense, the ending was really clean. The differences between characters - especially Tris and Caleb, Tris and Tobias, and Tris and Christina just kept getting more and more pronounced. By halfway through this book it was getting difficult to see how things could have ended happily ever after for this group.
While I loved the idea of Tris and Tobias, they were at their most mature in the first book. By Allegiant they were acting like they were in junior high. Most of their interactions were bicker, kiss, ignore each other, repeat. It didn't really make for much of a romance. Their relationship could have been developed a little better during this book.
