Other Voices, Other Rooms
by Truman Capote
While the start is a little slow, I found myself quickly rewarded with a lot of over-the-top southern gothic and queer narrative. Quotes cut from this book seem ridiculous out of context, but the whole fabric of the narrative creates and irresistible and contained dream world that I was happy to get wrapped up in. But if you can't stand Carson McCullers, Tennessee Williams or French symbolist poetry you will probably hate this book.
