Almost DNF, but I stuck it out and the only reward is being able to add another read book to my goal for the year. If I could give this book 1 and a half stars I would. 1 point for being a world-builders dream and full of potential in that regard and a half-star for being written by a Hoosier who allowed for a brief, pleasant mention of a happy gay couple. Being a Hoosier, I wish I didn’t see this as such a big deal.
Otherwise it was very taxing in the adventure parts, the main character was grating, and there was this uncomfortable recurring reference to the age gap between Ophelia and Charlie. I realize fairies do not age the same way, aren’t bound to the same physics as people, etc. but Ophelia is surprisingly young - suspend your belief young in my opinion - and very clearly naive in spots because of this. Charlie has experience she doesn’t. It just seemed kind of strange and unnecessary. And does she have any other friends besides him?
