Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell

3.0

this is a pretty cookie cutter scandi noir detective story with all the tropes you're familiar with. there's no real big twist. there's no drip feeding of clues. you cannot re-read the novel and go "ah ha i get it now!". this book is more of a slice-of-life observation into the year of a swedish policeman. the prose is simple which has the potential to make the book dull, however i found it incredibly readable. it also helps that the book is relatively short; i don't think it would hold up if it was twice the length.
