The Days of Abandonment
by Elena Ferrante
I honestly didn't think that I would enjoy reading this book as much as I did. I picked it up on a whim, but when I finally sat down to read it, I just couldn't put it down. The entire story is told through Olga's thoughts, and we find out that her husband has left her for a much younger woman. You see Olga spiral out of control trying to cope with the loss of her marriage, and there is nothing I love more than reading about a woman unhinged. Olga's descent into madness was great to read but there's also something beautiful about her finding herself in the chaos. The writing style did throw me off occasionally, but not enough where I was deterred from enjoying the story.
