Gone to See the River Man by Kristopher Triana

4.0

LOVED the setting and the blues references. The atmosphere is dark and grimy and the scenes are graphic and lurid. I was able to predict where the plot was going, but it was still very satisfying how it unfolded. The transgressive aspects were gross, and yet I couldn't stop reading.

I was confused by the term Splatterpunk, but then this book made me want to listen to some sludgy metal band and I think I get it.

Only giving 4 stars because I think that some aspects fell short for the type of reader I am. I don't think it was necessarily meant for me and that's ok. It was still a good read. It gears more toward a specific audience - I'm thinking more for cis men lol. However, I am curious to read more of the author's works.
