The Psy-Changeling Series Books 1-5 by Nalini Singh

4.0

The premise behind these books - that humanity has been split into 3 interconnected races, human, changeling (human/animal changers), and Psy (humans with psionic powers of various types) - is fascinating, made more so by the interactions between the groups. However, as a set, these books all have the same basic storyline - non-changeling meets changeling, realizes they are meant to be bonded mates, spends volume reaching bonded mate status, with a fair amount of sex thrown in. This repetitive theme is saved by the overall changeling/Psy conflict that runs through all five interconnected volumes. While I don't mind gratuitous sex, these books could have a wider audience if there was less emphasis on soft-porn descriptions of sex and more on the storyline; it would also help if it was more apparent from the beginning that these five volumes are all really one novel told from the point of view of 5 major characters.
