Shiver

Listen, as I was going in, I was having to temper my expectations right off the bat. "This is a novel for teenagers. This is going to be a book about teenagers. This is going to be a romance about teenagers. And first-person perspective is so easy to mess up. Lower your expectations a little bit."
Still, the fact that it was about werewolves kept me reading, and I'm glad I did. I ended up having a soft spot for the romance, and even that aside, the book hit a lot of my buttons with its tendency towards grimdark themes. It's got a surprisingly strong cast of supporting characters, too, especially Isabel. She stole the spotlight time and time again.
