I enjoyed this book despite Anne being less adventurous/ambitious/independent than she has been previously. I feel like this became more about the stories of the people she meets than her story. In some sense, Anne's story was completed when she married Gilbert (and fully so when she has baby Jem) but the stories of Leslie, Captain Jim and the others in Four Winds are what kept me reading. I missed some elements of the old Anne - I feel like she should've been more involved with community life in her new home rather than just her few neighbours. I feel like the Anne of books past would've been joining some societies and at least attending if not hosting dinner parties. However, it, to me, feels like a more mature version, and the calmness and lack of urgency in this book which is in such contrast to a lot of the other books (often more recently published) that I often read meant that I really enjoyed reading it.
Moderate: Child death, Death
