I LOVE Colleen Hoover and have read most of her books, but there are still a few left for me to find and read. Confess was one of those. In typical CoHo fashion, there was some romance, some mystery, some drama, and lots of emotion. As usual, I loved the writing, but I have to admit I didn’t love the characters as much as some of her other books. They were a little harder to love. This book has some darker themes and trigger warnings I want to mention: domestic abuse, substance abuse, addiction, and death by cancer. I love that one of the main characters is an artist who paints pieces in response to reading confessions that are anonymously submitted to his studio. I love that there are full-color pages included of the artwork and confessions, and that the confessions are real, submitted by real CoHo readers/fans. Such an interesting and unique idea for a book. This wasn’t my top favorite Colleen Hoover novel, but it wasn’t my least favorite either. I enjoyed it and give it four stars (or one paint palette and three hand-written, heart-felt confessions). 🎨📝📝📝
