Hana Khan Carries On
by Uzma Jalaluddin
Really loved this. Hana is such a vivid character, and while she is uncertain about the path she wants to tread in life, I loved how steady she is in her belief in herself, and her place in her family. The people around her are fabulous, and sometimes hilarious. My favorites were her cousin Rashid, whose parents may or may not be part of the New Delhi mafia, and her charismatic Auntie Kawkab Khala, who is an icon and an inspiration to Hana, and also a prickly person to be around (I loved how Hana finds this amusing rather than intimidating or upsetting). The romance plot is definitely secondary, but I was absolutely okay with that.
