While foraging and escaping evil bugs, she chances upon an alien warrior who claims her as a mate. This my first cinnamon roll alien - he's big, growly and scary but also very sweet and completely smitten with her. She's a smart, headstrong survivor who didn't trust him at first but is quickly won over by his sincerity.
It's a bit insta love but I didn't mind it. Their romance is a bright spot in a dire setting (I personally really hate bugs). Though the tone may seem a bit light at times for an apolocalypse, but it worked for me. He's so sweetly protective and I really liked their cute, humorous and steamy moments. Kinda a simple read but enjoyable overall.
