Landon & Shay: Part One

This gif pretty much sums up what I looked like while reading this entire book:
I am entirely shook by how amazing and beautiful this book was. I truly, with all of my heart, did not expect to be this emotionally impacted by this book when I picked it up. If I'm being honest, I expected not to care much for it since the one book I've read by this author in the past, I wasn't a huge fan of her writing. But I'm seeing now that she has grown a lot since that book and I was a big fool for thinking this wouldn't be good.
I think what I love most about this book (besides the beautiful, beautiful romance) are the important topics brought up in it and how well the author did in talking about them. These topics aren't brought up for shock value, as most romance books tend to do, or just to make a character "more dark". You can tell the author did her research and took her time with each and every one of these characters. They are all multidimensional characters. They are human, they are REAL. The amount of tears I have cried for these characters is absolutely unreal and almost never happens but they happened with this book because of how REAL these characters felt to me. At times, it felt like the author had read my own thoughts, my own soul and it made me feel seen in a way that I haven't felt in a book in a long time. I just loved this book so, so much and I won't forget it.
I finally understand what people mean when they talk about the ending being a good one. It's the best ending they could've had in this book and it's one that is needed. I'm dying to get part two and see the conclusion of their epic love story but I'm not gonna lie, I'm hella nervous. I'm nervous book two won't live up to this. That it will have drama and ruin the hard work these characters have put to get to where they are now but I'm going to be patient and wait and have faith. This author has already surprised me once with this book, perhaps she will surprise me again. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone looking for a beautiful, epic love story between two people who are both broken and whole at the same time. It's a story that is hard to read at times, but worth it.
