The third book of the Arcadia trilogy was, for me, the most logical one. Everything happened for a reason, everything was pretty straightforward and most problems, plot holes and weird forshadowy feeling plot point were resolved.
I was a bit unhappy about the fact that Rosa just ripped the for herself important pages out of a rare and expensive book and that it wasn’t even implied that she bought the book later when she had money again (I know it was important for the plot but it HURT), I had a bit of a problem with danai just randomly committing genocide for no understandable reason — she coulda just left (but I get that it was to highlight her struggle and make her more ruthless. Still, not an excuse), and the end was left pretty open.
This I didn’t mind as much; I love me an open ending.
All in all I liked the third book more than the second. I think I like it just as much as the first one even tho they’re very different.
Where the first one feels like slowly driving through a warm summer afternoon on Sicily the third book feels like being thrown in the back of a van and being driven through a cold night in autumn. It might’ve been due to the growth of all main character that the change in tone made so much sense and developed naturally.
