"It's difficult to keep everyone up to date, with so many lies."

That quote there describes the problems of this book, and the solution, in one line.

In this book, everyone is lying to everyone. Let me describe them in bullet points. It's going to contain some possible spoilers.

◑ Heaven's boyfriend Alex is cheating on her. Heaven, after knowing that information, instead of confronting him and breaking up like a normal person, decides to open a fake profile on the dating app to catfish Alex and catch him red handed.

◑ Heaven meets Shane before she could go through with her masterplan and they start flirting. When things get serious between them, again instead of sharing her whole truth, she decides to hide them.

◑ When Shane gets to know about the Alex situation, after some drama, he and Heaven decide they won't get together until after Alex is out of the picture. Because they don't want their relationship to be labelled as cheating. They decide not to go on a date. But they definitely go on a non-date (Their words, not mine) where they bake together and read books while holding hands. My problem with this scenario is, just because they ended the night with a high-five instead of a kiss, it's not a date? And can be proudly advertised as 'not-cheating'?

◑ Shane is preaching how important honesty is to him while withholding information from Heaven regarding his past which is directly connected to his actual feelings for Heaven.

◑ Heaven's best friend Emma is lying to Heaven which technically started all this mess in the first place.

So, in short, I did not like this book. Those two stars are for Heaven and Alex's chemistry. Because that was quite well written. The characters were actually so well written too. Heaven was a charming, strong young lady. She didn’t have any exceptional attribute about her that makes her stand out. She was a normal person, which I adored. Shane was a caring guy, sweet and professional, and a baker! Emma was the sassy and charming best friend. I just wish they weren’t lying to each other and making a whole mess. Under different circumstances, I would have loved them so much.
